The Phantom of the Paradise

“Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make.”

With a huge assist from composer/co-star Paul Williams (who also scored big with Bugsy Malone and The Muppet Movie), director Brian DePalma hits a homerun.

A mashup of Faust, Phantom of the Opera, and The Picture of Dorian Gray, it’s got style to spare, and never skimps on the camp factor.

Robbed of his life’s work, his face squished in a record press “accident,” nerdy composer Winslow Leach resurfaces as the monster in the concert hall attic.

He’ll get his revenge, one soaring musical note at a time.
