Madness lives in the jungle.
In more ways than one.
Director Werner Herzog and notoriously freaky actor Klaus Kinski somehow made five films together, despite frequently clashing to the point of threatening each other with grave bodily harm.
While the relationship was a fraught one, it produced seriously stellar films, and this tale of an already-manic conquistador leading an ill-fated search for El Dorado is my favorite.
The lure of gold in them thar jungles lures men to their death, and the body count gets impressively high as Kinski and Co. ignore all the warning signs.
Heart of Darkness indeed.
