The Last Starfighter

Up, up, and away.

Having spent a lifetime notching high scores on an ’80s standup arcade video game, a trailer park teen finds himself shot into outer space, just in time to win an intergalactic war.

His recruiter?

An interstellar conman named Centauri, played by Robert Preston with a twinkle in his eye and a lie on his lips.

Sent to the frontlines, Lance Guest goes from pining for Catherine Mary Stewart (welcome to the club, bub) to staring down Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada.

For a guy who thinks video games peaked with Pac-Man, this hits my sweet spot.
