Alan Rickman gave great sneer.
Whether he was bedeviling Harry Potter, Robin Hood, or Bruce Willis, the master of delivering great side-eye could cut his foes in half with a word, a drawn-out sigh, or a stare which cut through steel.
Rickman is a huge part of why this Christmas-set action-fest remains so beloved, providing the perfect, aggrieved rival to snarky hero John McClane.
We know Hans Gruber is going to lose — bad guys rarely come out on top in big budget studio flicks — but we can’t help rooting, at least a little bit, for evil.
Rickman deserved nothing less.
