Light ‘n bouncy, and full to the brim with good-time characters breaking into song, this take on Sherwood Forest life holds its own with those crafted by Errol Flynn or Kevin Costner.
Robin gets the girl, and Little John gets the great Phil Harris to provide his voice, but my favorite characters have always been dastardly Prince John and his slinky, craven assistant, Sir Hiss.
Giggling over fleecing downtrodden locals at tax time, or being taken to the cleaners themselves by Sir Reginald, Duke of Chutney, they’re a duo for the ages.
Slimy, yes, but also quite entertaining.
