Spirited Away

Miyazaki is Japanese for magic.

The co-founder of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki creates epic films – lush, beautiful, and filled to the brim with wisdom hidden among eye-popping adventure.

This one, which rightfully won a Best Animated Feature Oscar, follows Chihiro, a timid 10-year-old who finds she has the heart of a warrior.

Her greedy parents are quite literally turned into pigs — plump, mindless porkers — after eating food that doesn’t belong to them.

Facing danger and intrigue, their daughter proves unexpectedly plucky, facing off with a ferocious witch and staring down a dragon.

The very best of what animation can be.
