Road Games (1981)

Don’t get in the van.

Jamie Lee Curtis is a hitchhiker in danger, Stacy Keach a trucker driving through Australia with a dingo as his traveling companion, and death haunts the outback in an unsung chiller.

Director Richard Franklin, who later held his own with Hitchcock, making the underrated Psycho II, subtly cranks up the tension, creating a world where nothing, and no one, can be trusted.

This is the sort of film made for the glory days of video stores.

A lurid cover, an overheated description on the back of the box, and young David was in VCR heaven.
