Paint Your Wagon

You ain’t never heard singin’ like this!

Maybe for good reason.

It’s safe to say Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin, two flinty-eyed tough-guy legends, wouldn’t be your first pick to headline a big-budget musical.

And yet this epic-sized chunk of strange on the range works, even with Marvin croakin’ out ballads and Eastwood doing his best whisper-singing.

Strong songs, like They Call the Wind Maria, I Talk to the Trees, and Wand’rin’ Star endure, and our star duo have strong chemistry.

Hey, it’s not The Wild Bunch, which Marvin passed on to make this film, but it’s still fun.
