Lawrence of Arabia

Watch this on your phone, you’re an idiot.

The bigger the screen the better for one of the world’s truly epic films.

Director David Lean and Cinematographer Freddie Young, who specialized in larger-than-life tales, reached their peaks here, taking home well-deserved Oscars.

Mixing fact with fiction — “when the legend becomes fact, print the legend” — we follow T.E. Lawrence as he rises from a quite full-of-himself young British Lieutenant to full-blown leader of a sandy revolution.

Along the way he makes numerous enemies, some of whom remain allies, and builds a myth worthy of the lands he plunders.

“No prisoners!”, indeed.
