OK, I lied – everything is pretty freaky in this offbeat sci-fi meditation on a changing world, one of those rare times when a rock-solid book becomes an even-better film.
Having pre-read the Southern Reach trilogy, I knew a lot of what was coming, including some of the freakier moments, but director Alex Garland does a nice job of confounding expectations.
