Hail, Caesar!

I heart the Coen brothers.

Joel and Ethan are my favorite active filmmakers (sorry Zhang Yimou), and even a “lesser” film of theirs beats 99% of what other directors are doing.

A sly, funny recreation of old school Hollywood — complete with wisecracking dames, tapdancing sailors, and devious Commie defectors — it also gives George Clooney another chance to do what he does best when working with the Coens.

Act like a righteous twit.

While it doesn’t quite hit the sublime heights of The Hudsucker Proxy or O Brother, Where Art Thou, this Caesar still leaves me grinning with delight.
