13 Assassins

“Kill the men that get past me.”

Rising up out of the muck, samurai and hunters pit their blades against a corrupt leader terrorizing the countryside.

Rape, murder, every abuse is fine, since the warlord overseeing the brutality is protected by being related to the Shogun.

That doesn’t sit well with our band of hack-happy warriors, however, as they put their lives on the line in a bid to right wrongs.

Directed with precision and fury by prolific Takashi Miike, 13 Assassins is old-school in the best way, a modern tribute to the work of legends like Akira Kurosawa.
