Can’t hold him down.

Born into a family of stuffy classical music fans, the owlet in this early Tex Avery cartoon yearns to break free.

He wants to get down and jazzy, imitating Al Jolson like all the wild youth of the day.

The genius director who later gave us Red Hot Riding Hood and Swing Shift Cinderella is a little more restrained here, but the vibrant colors and boppy music fit his style.

It’s got a good beat, and you can dance to it.

Or let the couch swallow you up, and just bliss out for eight minutes.
