Want to scar your kids for life?
Let them watch this 1982 animated film about a pair of dogs who escape life at an animal research facility, only to find the outside world can be cruel and unjust as well.
Based on a book by Richard Adams, who also gave us the equally-downbeat rabbits-gonna-die tale of Watership Down, it’s emotionally brutal.
And also superbly-animated, its shadowy visuals enhanced by great voice work from John Hurt, and proof not all animated films have to be bright and bouncy.
Just be prepared to have your soul ripped out of your body while watching.
