I soon covered that quote with a sticker, on which I vouched for the film’s power, while hectoring studio slugs for trying to sell the film as something it most certainly is not.
Come for Maggie Gyllenhaal and Co. offering subtle, haunting work, and you’ll be pleased.
Come for non-stop yuks, and you might have thrown the DVD at my head upon return. And I would have understood.
